The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is used as a core curriculum for all our classes. The curriculum is research and evidence based and includes, but not limited to, directed activities, free choice/self-initiated learning activities, outdoor physical development, thematic activities, instructional materials and special guests.
The curriculum includes goals in all areas of development:
- Social/emotional: To help children achieve a sense of self, take responsibility for themselves and others, behave in a prosocial way by showing empathy and getting along with their peers and authority.
- Physical: To help children develop gross motor and fine motor skills through activities indoors and outdoors;
- Cognitive: to help children become confident learners by providing the experiences and materials to allow them to think, explore, question and solve problems, and
- Language: to help children communicate, and to make sense of written language and print through the alphabet, writing letters and words.
The curriculum is predictable yet flexible and responsive to the individual’s needs and interest of the children.
Creative Time Expo is part of our curriculum. With this program, we will be “traveling” to different countries and learning about new cultures and artists. Development of the whole child is a team effort, with instructions and experience in the classroom being supported and reinforced at home; you can continue the learning experience at home by talking with your child about class activities.
